Easy to use & deploy

Both end user and administration tasks are carried out using a web browser. There are no installed software or plug-ins to download – you just need JavaScript and Adobe Flash 9+ (for recording).  An installed, inexpensive webcam is also required for desktop recording.

Speed to market

The Kulu Platform runs from the cloud, which means it’s quick and easy to get up and running whether it’s for 25 or 5,000 users. Where necessary we can integrate with your single sign on and LDAP authentication systems.

Easy to manage and distribute content

Users can search and access content through our content portal. Meta data is configurable and content can be distributed as an email, an RSS feed, a link, embedded in websites using iframes or published automatically to websites using our ‘widgets’ or API integration.

Format support

We support an increasing number of formats such as PowerPoint, PDF, JPEG, Mpeg-4, Flash Video & Windows Media. Content is automatically transcoded to ensure device compatibility.

Open standards

The Kulu Platform takes advantage of many open standards to ensure compatibility with existing infrastructure and applications.  All content is delivered over HTTP on port 80 to ensure it gets through firewalls. Desktop recording utilises RTMP transport and can fail over to RTMPT if necessary.

Bandwidth management

To ensure content is delivered quickly, we utilise a global CDN (Content Distribution Networks). We are integrated with Akamai, Limelight, Level3 and can also work with a customer’s existing CDN arrangements. We integrate our security with the CDN so that assets will continue to be protected even when they are purged from the Kulu Platform.

Security and workflow

Administrators can easily categorise content, create groups, manage security, permissions and workflow for all content within the system. Kulu Valley can also deliver tailored solutions for customers that need to integrate the platform into their existing IT environment for added security. SSL can further protect all parts of the content creation, management and distribution process.

Scalable

The Kulu Platform is built on scalable, resilient, enterprise-level infrastructure enabling it to quickly scale to support demand for content and users. Using a CDN ensures that we can support a high number of viewers at any one time.

Kulu Valley runs in all popular web browsers without the need for plugins or Active-X controls. However, playing and recording videos smoothly requires a fast internet connection, and a number of commonly used internet technologies.
